2018, May Caroline’s Spring Newsletter – Embrace the Change! By: Caroline Sutherland

Hello Everyone,

Happy Spring – my favorite time of the year!

I am sure all of you have heard that I have announced my retirement – to take effect in March 2019. It has been and will continue to be quite a year! Busy!

I have been working toward my retirement goal for quite some time. It really was precipitated by the untimely death of my younger sister – nearly four years ago. Once that devastating blow hit our family, I knew that it was time to make some significant changes to my professional life. Here is what I did.

First, the big change after many years was to discontinue selling supplements. I gave my clients three months notice to order what they needed and I closed our shipping department. Then my two assistants moved their offices home so that they had more flexibility. Next I ceased shipping out actual CD’s and books and made those products available from my website as E-books and Mp3’s.

The next significant step was to stop traveling and to make all of my teleconferences, webinars and trainings available online. I love the online teaching format!

These significant steps really simplified my professional life. Next it was time to simplify my files and office procedures. I hired a friend of mine who was super organized to help me go through my files and weed out any unnecessary papers and arrange the files in order – all clearly labeled. A joy to behold!

Then she and I went through every credit card, important contact, institutions, anything that my estate would need to contact and handle at the time of my own death. These were all recorded in a clear and updated list – ready and at hand.

I figured that if my sister who was four years younger than me had died, who knew when my time would come? I needed to be prepared.

Then I went on to be ruthless with my storage locker and wardrobe. The local flea market was the willing recipient of my cast-offs! It sure feels good to do the trimming and clearing.

To my mind, this is all part of “embracing the change,” stepping into it, and saying “I can do this.” There also seemed to be an internal drumbeat which was propelling me forward into the next chapter.

People ask me what I am going to do after I retire. My response – have more fun!

We have ten more months to be together so let’s make the most of it. Check out details of my wind down process!

A Book I Like

Thank and Grow Rich - A 30 Day Experiment in Shameless Gratitude and Unabashed Joy by fellow Hay House author Pam Grout. This book was recommended to me by my friend and colleague Dr. Theresa Ramsey ND in Scottsdale Arizona. I saw Theresa discuss this book on her video channel. This book offers an updated perspective on abundance, which goes way beyond financial capital. It shows readers how to grow and expand their creative capital, their social capital, their spiritual capital and much, much more! There's even an abundance worksheet that tracks your thank-and-grow rich portfolio. But more importantly, this 30-day experiment will upgrade your life experience from ho-hum to wahoo! Go from life sucks to life rocks!

Recipe – A Simple Never Fail – Salad Dressing

Making your own salad dressing is always best – here’s mine.

Take a small bowl, add 1/4 cup of olive oil, add 3 drops of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, 3 drops of balsamic vinegar, 1/ 4 tsp honey, and 1-2 tsp Dijon Mustard. Vigorously whisk all ingredients or stir well with a small spoon. Pour over mixed greens. Makes enough for two salad servings.
